The Hotel and Tourism Industry, being one of the fastest expanding economic sectors in Mauritius and in the world today, offers interesting career opportunities for young, dynamic school leavers. The Ecole Hôtelière Sir Gaëtan Duval is an internationally recognised bilingual training institution that prepares and equips young people with the necessary knowledge and skills and the right attitudes to integrate this competitive industry.

For the new academic year the number of admissions has reflected the importance attributed to training in the tourism sector and the pivotal role of the IVTB Ecole Hôtelière Sir Gaëtan Duval and its contribution to the expansion of the tourism sector. Following the recruitment process the Hotel School of Mauritius will be running at full capacity clearly reflecting the interest of school leavers willing to join the Hospitality sector.

The IVTB Ecole Hôtelière Sir Gaëtan Duval offers three levels of courses namely the Diploma in Hospitality Management, the diploma in Tourism Management, the National Trade Certificate level 2 and level 3 courses. A growing interest for Diploma courses have been noted with 48 students enrolled. The Diploma courses mainly prepare the trainees for supervisory and middle management posts whereas the NTC 2 and NTC 3 courses aim front liners and apprentices respectively.

Two new courses have been introduced namely the Diploma in Culinary Arts meant for aspirant chefs scheduled for next year and NTC 2 Housekeeping course on part time basis will also be considered.

The academic year at the Ecole Hôtelière Sir Gaëtan Duval starts in mid August 2007.
